The Host - Philip Drost
I remember the first time I ever saw a live NBA game. My parents had gone on a trip to Italy, leaving me behind (on purpose, it wasn't a Home Alone situation) and I was bummed they didn't take me with. But I had just made the middle school basketball team, so Dad said he would take me to a Toronto Raptors game when they played a preseason game in Boston.
I agreed to the deal, though it didn't seem fair at the time. That would become a life changing day. The Raptors won, and from then on, I was obsessed. One thing led to another, I became a journalist and not an NBA player, and here I am, covering Canadian basketball.
